Martin D-16H 93 (1993)
This is a very nice lightweight 1993 Martin D-16H 93 guitar. The Martin D16H was built from 1991 to 1993, and sought to combine vintage D-18 elements with modern neck profiles and led to the D-18V models. Just as good as any forward shifted prewar D-18 replica and relatively rare, the Martin D16H is one of the hidden gems from the Martin line. Lightweight and built as well as the other Dreadnought models and like the D-18, the D-16H features a Sitka Spruce top with Mahogany for the sides, back, body blocks and neck. Bracing for the top uses a 1930’s forward shifted, scalloped model. The bridge and unbound fingerboard are Indian Rosewood. The back received a Herringbone centre strip, and a Herringbone ring around the soundhole. It looks a lot like a D-18.
This Martin D-16H dates to 1993 –the neck block is stamped ‘D16 H 93’ and was built at the Martin shop in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It’s in overall good condition with some minor wear. Fret wear is moderate, and there are a few small dents and dings around the guitar. It originally came with a under the saddle pick up, which has been removed, and a replacement bone saddle fitted along with a StewMac NoJak ebony endpin strap button, which very neatly plugs the oversized endpin hole. It comes with its original Martin case which is in useable but not great condition.
